Dr. Ellie Williams BVSc MRCVS

Horse

I graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree from the University of Liverpool in 2021. While recovering from an injury, I worked briefly as a small animal vet. Although I enjoyed small animal work and it equipped me with valuable skills, my true passion has always been with horses.

I completed an 18-month internship at Rainbow Equine Hospital in Yorkshire, where I gained extensive hands-on experience in equine medicine, surgery, anaesthesia and orthopaedics. Since then, I’ve worked as an ambulatory vet in North Wales, providing dedicated care to horses across the region.

I’m currently pursuing a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Equine Practice to further my expertise and provide even higher levels of care to my equine patients. I’m also proud to be an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian, which reflects my commitment to the highest standards of equine care. I am committed to offering the highest standard of veterinary care to all types of horses with a personal touch, ensuring the health and wellbeing of each equine patient I treat.

I was first introduced to horses at a local riding school and, after a few years, my brothers and I were fortunate enough to have a pony of our own. We spent countless hours attending Pony Club camps and rallies, igniting a lifelong passion for horses.

At 12, I joined British Eventing, progressing through the levels and earning a reserve spot on the British Pony Team in 2013. When I outgrew ponies, I bought my horse, Gromit, and together we competed up to Intermediate Level Nationally; and what is now FEI 3-star.

My background in competitive eventing gave me firsthand insight into the importance of veterinary care inspiring me to pursue a career as an equine vet. The experience of seeing the impact of quality care on performance and wellbeing shaped my approach to the profession, and it is why I’m so passionate about ensuring horses are kept healthy and happy.
